NDIS Casualisation in no-one's long-term interest

The Australian Services Union NSW & ACT branch has backed a report calling for secure NDIS jobs.

The reportWhere Secure Employment meets Clients' Needs, analysed the impacts of the NDIS funding model on disability support workers, and those they support.

Speaking to the Illawarra Mercury Natalie Lang, NSW Branch Secretary of the Australian Services Union said, the growth in casual employment was in no-one's long-term interests.

"This critical piece of work can be used by the industry to build real careers in what is a very transactional NDIS scheme which, by its very nature, can push employers to use more casual staff."

The RMIT University report authored by Dr Fiona Macdonald will be launched on Friday 11th October 2019 in Sydney.
