Last Week's JCC: This year will be a big one!

As some of the dust settles on last year’s restructure, your delegates met with WaterNSW management on Thursday 18th Feb to discuss for our new (and overdue!) priorities for this year.

We are aware that members have raised numerous concerns about the content and timing of new WHS policies. WaterNSW expect legal requirements to be met immediately but have stated that other 'over and above ' procedures are still being rolled out and employees are not expected to be compliant.

WaterNSW says they have communicated where employees are expected to be 100% compliant and where not.

If you have concerns about any WHS procedure or compliance issue, speak to your team leader in the first instance. If you still have concerns, escalate the matter to your union delegate and safety coordinator.

WaterNSW has also confirmed that they are aware of numerous “teething issues” with the Tracer Trackers. They have also stated that data from the trackers will only be accessed for safety related issues. Managers cannot seek access to data unless there is a safety concern.

DPI Water
Currently, a business case is being led by DPI Water. This is due to be finished in the next couple of weeks. This case will need to go the government before any transition into WaterNSW can occur. July 1 is the slated “go live date.” We will let you know when we know more.

Maintenance and Operations Restructure
Management has that this will be discussed at the next Executive meeting. It was stated today that there are no job losses in this area. The ASU again confirmed that no spill and fill will occur.

Blue and White Boxes
Blue box employees who’s positions have been nominally downgraded and have outstanding issues will soon receive an invite to meetings with management to settle evaluation reviews. Members in this position should contact their union delegate to confirm assistance.
