On Friday, June 19th the Fair Work Commission agreed with unions to increase the wages by 1.75% for community sector workers.
Now we need to make sure that the NSW and Federal Government pay their fair share and make sure our community sector doesn’t go backwards.
ASU members in the community sector are working harder than ever. After 12 months of drought, floods, fires and pandemic our community services are needed more than ever.
Community sector work is so important, but so often overlooked.
The ASU firmly believes that the pay rise awarded by the Fair Work Commission should have been higher - but we accept this decision and we need the Federal and State Governments to accept the decision too. We need them to fund indexation and pay their fair share.
If services do not receive sufficient funding indexation urgently it will have a detrimental impact on their ability to deliver services to the community. Services are grappling with increased demand for their services already. We can't afford to be overlooked again.
