Sydney Water EBA - What Do You Want To Change?

Your Award, the Sydney Water Award 2006, expires on 30 June 2009 and will then be replaced by an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA). The ASU has formed an EBA Campaign Committee and we are preparing to get a fair outcome for members in any new agreement. This committee has held two meetings so far and will be meeting right through the campaign. Their job is to make sure that you get information about the campaign for a fair agreement and to listen to what you want changed in your new Agreement. If you have any comments or questions about the EBA campaign, speak to someone on the committee.

The NSW Governments Wages Policy
The NSW government has a policy of limiting wage rises to 2.5% for all of the public sector. If members want any increase above this the NSW Government, and Sydney Water, will be saying that you have to give up conditions or make other ‘employee related cost savings’. This is completely unfair and will not keep Sydney Water employees in line with inflation or the rest of the public sector.

Putting Policy into the Agreement
We have seen Sydney Water management arbitrarily change policies that have significant effects on member’s lives. These include the new sick leave policy and new redundancy policy. We must ensure that we lock in as many of these conditions as possible, so that management does not have the power to simply change them at whim.

Who is on the EBA Campaign Committee?
The EBA Campaign Committee is made up of rank and file members, as well as some delegates. Below is the list of members who are currently on the committee, make sure you keep in touch with your local committee member. If there isn’t one in your area, let us know straight away.

We are in the process of putting together a survey so that we can create our log of claims. If you have any ideas about what should be in the survey, speak to a member of the EBA Campaign Committee.
