A long standing grievance between the Waste Water Treatment Operators (WWTO) and Hunter Water (HW) over Duties Statements and increasing responsibilities has come to an end.
Until now Hunter Water has been reluctant to accept that WWTO roles and responsibilities have been increasing without recognition or remuneration for the past 5 years.
Members of the Australian Services Union (ASU) have secured an increase of $20 per week to the WWTO Certificate II and Certificate III Training Allowance as follows;
- $520.00 per annum for Certificate II
- $520.00 per annum for Certificate III
That’s a total combined increase of $1040 per annum which equates to an outstanding 51.5% increase to the WWTO Training Allowance which is also superable and will be indexed to future wage increases.
ASU members who work as WWTOs achieved this great result by working collectively. A time line was established and endorsed by ASU members. This timeline was then strategically and successfully implemented by members.
As one we banded together and conquered.
