Uniting Care Campaign
Crisis hits UnitingCare
- Details
- Published on Friday, 28 November, 2008
The UnitingCare board has decided to cancel EBA negotiations with you and your representatives until further notice. Between now and when the Board meets again in late March a full review of the financial operations of the service group will be undertaken by management. The outcomes of this review will greatly affect you and your employment conditions!
Management claim that the Global Financial Crisis has had a significant impact on the service group’s investments and is responsible for the service group’s current financial situation. No more than 20% of the organisations finances come from investments.Whilst the ASU asked numerous questions about the financial situation of the service group only some were answered. Management have informed us that they will be conducting a full review of the financial operations of the service group and that the outcomes of this review will mean the following:
What Does This Mean For You?
• Your current EBA will stay in place until a new agreement is reached.
• Management do not want negotiations to recommence until late March at the earliest.
• There will be no annual pay increase for workers until an agreement is reached next year
• You have not received an annual pay increase since October 2007
• Some positions across the service group may be made redundant
• That we have officially been informed of these points as of Thursday 27 November.
Where to from Here?
The ASU will be writing to UnitingCare to request a number of undertakings from management. We want to protect your jobs, wages and conditions.
What do You Need to Do
