A campaign by staff employed by the UnitingCare Children, Young People and Families Service Group to negotiate a new Certified Agreement. Members are working together the win workers the conditions that THEY want.

 

 

UnitingCare EBA Negotiation Update

Negotiations for the enterprise agreement at UnitingCare Children Young People and Families recommenced today (Thursday 16th April). Over the past two weeks ASU organisers have been holding workplace meetings to discuss UnitingCare’s wage offer of 2% in 2009, 2% in 2010 and 3% in 2011. Workers had previously had access to Management’s information about the organisation’s financial status. In workplace meetings, workers discussed the wage offer and the context of the current global environment, issues of funding and wage offers in other comparable community service organisations.

Crisis hits UnitingCare

The UnitingCare board has decided to cancel EBA negotiations with you and your representatives until further notice. Between now and when the Board meets again in late March a full review of the financial operations of the service group will be undertaken by management. The outcomes of this review will greatly affect you and your employment conditions!

Negotiations Delayed Pending Management's Financial Modelling

Negotiations continued on October 28th. At this meeting your Employee Representative Team endeavoured to seek Management's agreement to a number of items that were included in your claim for the EBA. The big ticket items have not yet been adequately considered by Management as Unit-ing Care needs to do further financial modelling.

The Big Issues Remain Unresolved

The bargaining teams met on Thursday 16th of October to begin negotiations. Prior to this meeting, dates were established for both parties to provide copies of their claims for consideration. The Employee Representaive Team provided Uniting Care with a 29 point claim. Management have also presented the Employee Representative Team with 5 further claims.

The ASU and Staff Negotiators – Working as One!

On Tuesday 9th of September Employee Representatives (including Union representatives and Staff Negotiators) met with Uniting Care Children Young People and Family Services (UCCYPFS) management representatives to begin negotiations for your new enterprise agreement. This meeting mainly focussed on outlining the continuing consultation process, communications with all employees throughout negotiations and setting dates for the provisions of parties’ claims.

The Claim

 1. Removal of performance based pay.
UnitingCare employees be afforded the same entitlement to automatic annual increments as the rest of the industry. This does not remove an employee’s entitlement to regular supervision meetings, but simply removes its link to their pay progression.

UnitingCARE workers get active!

Over the last month ASU organisers and staff communicators have been holding consultation meetings with all service group employees across NSW. These meetings have been very well attended and have produced some very useful discussions and feedback. At this first round of meetings, workers have been asked to discuss issues with the current EBA and to complete a staff survey about wages and conditions at UnitingCare Children Young People and Family Services. Hundreds of surveys were completed and returned to the ASU to enable us to build our claim for bargaining.
