Sydney Ferries EBA Campaign

Sydney Ferries EBA 2009

After a year of negotiations the members have endorsed the new Sydney Ferries Senior and Salaried EBA 2009. Click here to read your agreement. This agreement has locked down many of the local arrangements which had operated outside of the EBA. This provides security for our terms and conditions of employment for the future.

The key elements of the EBA are:

  • 2.5% pay rise per annum for the two years.
  • Incorporation of the redundancy and redeployment policy.
  • Preservation of the Manly C/O’s and SAO’s overtime payment.
  • Higher duties are to be paid for all time worked, no minimum number of shifts.
  • Work/life balance included in rostering principals.
  • Clarity around evidence requirements for sick, carers and compassionate leave.
  • Leave loading included in the agreement for the first time.
  • Inclusion of express “status quo” principal in the disputes settlement clause – means once we put something in dispute change is put on hold.
  • Ability for Senior Officers to be paid single-rate overtime.
  • Clarity around when the “afternoon penalty” will be paid and how much it is.
  • Inclusion of a crib break clause.
  • Maintenance of all other terms and conditions.

We hope that over the next 12 months we can build union and come out from the cloud of privatization to get an even better agreement next time. The agreement has now been lodged with Fair Work Australia and is awaiting approval. When it is approved SF will then implement the payrise and back pay as appropriate. If you have any question please feel free to contact your Union on 9310 4000.
