SOCIETY UNILATERALLY CHANGES PAY DAY FOR SOME STAFF
Groups of staff employed by the Society have today received notification that the Society intends to move pay dates. This change will cause considerable disruption to staff who have set up automatic payments from their accounts and may now not have sufficient funds in their account to cover payments going out.
In addition, some staff are having their payments delayed by up to 5 days.
AWARD BREACH
Clause 27.3 of the SACS Award states:
“The payday once selected shall not be changed without the agreement of a majority of the employees.”
It is clear that staff have not agreed to this change. Accordingly that ASU has written to the Society in the following term:
Dear John,
The ASU is in receipt of correspondence from the Society to staff that suggests that the Society will unilaterally vary the pay day for some staff.
As you will be aware, clause 27.3 of the SACS Award and of the NAPSA requires that,
“The payday once selected shall not be changed without the agreement of a majority of the employees.”
The ASU is advised by its members that no vote of staff has occurred. Accordingly the ASU request that you immediately withdraw the notice provided to staff and not move the pay day until the majority of staff have agreed.
AWARD PROTECTION STRIPPED FROM VINNIES AGREEMENT
Members should note that the new agreement they are being asked to vote on strips this condition and protection from staff.
