STA Award - Breaking News - Your New Award: Your Choice


A 3.75% increase pa over the next 3 years from 1 January 2009 is proposed in your new Award. Yesterday the Budget Committee of Cabinet gave the go ahead for State Transit to put a formal offer of a new Award to Senior and Salaried Officers. We await the offer which will guarantee pay increases based on key changes to the Award.

From the beginning ASU delegates have been working on getting the outcomes in the Award that members identified in the consultation meetings.
Now it is your choice. Your vote.

 3.75% wage increase backdated to 1/1/09
Further 3.75% wage increase in 2010
Further 3.75% wage increase in 2011

$2250 more pa for an employee earning $60000 (approx)

  
1. Introduction of a new sick leave policy to reduce sick leave;
2. Reduction in annual leave accrual;
3. Reductions in public holiday and picnic day liability; 
4. A series of key reforms including:
• removal or relaxation of current restrictions on the use of temporary employees beyond the current 12 months and the time limitations to fill vacant positions;
• adoption of new e-recruitment practices;
• changes to the way eligibility lists are to be used;
• changes to on-line service functions for a number of human resource processes;
• introduction of a uniform allowance to replace fair wear and tear;
• new procedures for managing excess (displaced) staff;
• changes in a range of HR policies;
• clarification regarding management determination of shift coverage;
• restructuring and centralisation of scheduling and charters function;
• commitment to reforms.
