STA Award Update: We’re worth more than that!

We have been advised today that the NSW Government budgetary committee will not be hearing the State Transit Award next Monday as promised, effectively stalling any chance of a pay increase for State Transit staff.

This Award negotiated by the ASU, other Combined Unions and State Transit has been waiting Government approval before it can be offered to you and put to a vote. This Award would deliver pay increases over the next three years.

All this comes in the same week that Public Transport featured as the big winner in the NSW State Budget.

While we all welcome the $4 billion investment in public transport services and the $207.5 million for new buses earmarked in the budget where is the Government’s investment in people?
We need the Government to know that we cannot wait any longer. We’re worth more than that.

What now?
The next meeting of the budgetary committee is scheduled for 1 July.     We need to send a message to the Government that we need to be heard.

The ASU and RTBU delegates will be meeting over the next few days and meetings of members will be scheduled for next week to discuss where we are at and where we are going.

Watch out for: Details on member meetings coming soon.
