Relationships Australia Enterprise Bargaining
In a long EBA campaign, RA union members and bargaining delegates have worked together since 2009 to negotiate improved pay and conditions in a new Enterprise Agreement. In a show of collective strength and commitment to getting the pay and conditions they deserve staff rejected a draft Agreement put to the vote in early 2010.
A $450 wellness program with a 1.4% pay rise presented as valued at 1.9% was considered a poor replacement for a decent pay offer.
After a break from negotiations instigated by RA , delegates and management have recommenced the negotiations. These will start from where we left off as many agreements have been already been reached. In November RA management announced a 3 % pay rise independent of our negotiations to be backdated to 1 July 2011.
A survey of staff in October showed staff remain concerned with hours of work and penalty rates, maintenance of an above award margin, automatic progression through the pay scale, indexed allowances, a fair performance management process, access to salary packaging.
Next meeting is set for February 2012. Stay in touch with your delegates and workplace union contact to stay up to date with progress.
