A new senior management team has recently started at Windgap. The Union has received information that this new management s has lots of ideas in changing the way Windgap works. Finger Printing : Back on the CardsLast year Management wanted to collect employees fingerprints and use these as a way of recording time worked. ASU members and employees at Windgap got together and told management they would not accept finger printing as a valid way of keeping records. It’s a breach of privacy and inappropriate for an Employer to request our fingerprints. New management has decided they will introduce this again even though last year workers said no! Roster ChangesThere has also been discussion around the introduction of new rosters. Currently employees have some input into the rosters they receive. Windgap employees and their Union have heard nothing of these proposed changes. New Management/ New Discipline There are also rumours that management has issued instructions to start disciplining workers more. This creates a nature of fear. Are you a member of the Union? If you need representation you need to be a member before something happens. ConsultationUnder the SACS Award there is a requirement for an organisation to consult around changes to rosters and technology that will impact on peoples work. They are supposed to consult with all workers and their Union. So far the Union office has received no formal notification from Windgap around these changes. Have you?
What we need to do? • Every worker needs to receive a copy of this bulletin • Every worker needs to join the Union (remember the Union can only represent its members, so it’s time to get on board to make sure your protected) • Every workplace needs a delegate
