CONGRATULATIONS!! DISPUTE SETTLED

MYC AGREES TO WORKER DEMANDS STRIKE SUSPENDED

After months of negotiations, MYC has agreed to settle the dispute on the following basis:

• That MYC enter into an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) that would allow an alternative 24 hour roster to operate in High Needs houses from 10am-10am (where the majority of staff agree) and that the payment of evening penalties would be triggered at 2pm.
• That the support shift for all houses to be 12 hours.
• In addition MYC have agreed to a number of other matters that have been settled during the course of this dispute. The final form of an agreement will be settled over the course of the weekend.

Full details of the agreement to settle the dispute, including details around salary packaging, will be communicated to workers on Monday.
A Union meeting was held today and members agreed to settle the dispute on the above basis provided that the 24 hour shift is 10am-10am.

Where To Now?
The ASU and its solicitors are now working on drafting an EBA. We expect the drafting to be concluded next week and the document to be ready for a vote in the following week.

Until the EBA is approved by the NSW – IRC, workers have agreed to work the rosters that were circulated to staff on 13th November and which start on 1st December.

Full details to follow on Monday.
