Union membership is on the increase across Life Without Barriers (LWB) in NSW and the ACT, as members are starting to get organised to have an active strong and united voice in their working lives.

On Friday a group of your delegates – elected by the broad NSW delegate group (BJ,Mark, Leonnie and Kevin) along with Emily Mayo and Michael Flinn of the ASU Office met with LWB CEO, Claire Robbs and National HR Director, Bruce Mulligan.

Ten Life Without Barriers ASU delegates came together for training on December 8 and 9. The training was active, participatory and based around what matters most to our members.
Together delegates learned and shared ways to build our union, to identify issues and represent the views of members collectively and individually. This will all help us to share ourcollective ideas and make sure they are heard and acted on.

It’s been in incredible year for our LWB ASU. We have achieved a lot.
We built our union in numbers and in active participation – with many members now having elected delegates and union meetings which allow members to share their views and put ideas to management at a local level. Life Without Barriers has become Union – that in itself is an incredible achievement!

In this edition you’ll see that;
1.Delegates from across NSW and the ACT have held a teleconference to make a plan to make sure you all have your say, your way in meetings with Management. If you don’t have a delegate in your site or group – please contact Emily of our office to talk about how you can make that happen ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 2. The important Survey, which many of you have completed in hard copy, is now available online here – (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FH9PF2K). Delegates hope that by providing workers an opportunity to complete it online we will get even more responses.
