We work in airports, freight, clerical roles, call centres and more within the airlines industry. We work in many international airlines including Qantas, United, Air France/KLM and Air New Zealand as well as many ground handling companies like Toll Dnata and Menzies.
We are travel and foreign exchange consultants working in places like Jetset Travelworld Group, Flight Centre, Carlson Wagonlit and Travelex.
We are the shipping industry union . We are the men and women who work behind the scenes to ensure that the Australian shipping industry, vital to our economy, operates efficiently.

Qantas Announces More Job Cuts
In an all too familiar corporate strategy, Qantas has chosen the day they announce a half yearly profit of 2m to also announce 500 job cuts including a significant number of job losses in ASU areas. While politicians appear to have been the priority to consult for Qantas, only today have hard working Qantas staff and their unions been advised generally of Qantas’ plans. This is not consultation.

Menzies Aviation
In 2011 ASU members at Menzies united to address their pay and conditions on their Enterprise Agreement. Now that we have successfully negotiated their agreement, ASU members are working together to enforce conditions and make improvements to Menzies on a local level. With only 2 years before we’re back at the negotiating table again, Menzies staff are joining together, joining their Union and making sure we’re keeping management accountable! With their agreement set to expire in 2012 ASU members at AeroCare are getting ready to negotiate fair and reasonable pay and conditions.
