IBM Agree to Meet Print
Thursday, 07 August 2008 07:14

IBM have agreed to meet with their workers at the IBM Flightdeck about their claims for a collective agreement.

The change in position by IBM has followed a new notification of a bargaining period by the ASU of NSW acting as bargaining agent for ASU members at the flightdeck. This was only possilbe because each ASU member authorised the ASU to negotiate on their behalf. The notification is for an employee collective agreement rather than for a union agreement like the first bargaining period.

The meeting with management is an important step in obtaining a collective agreement. Flightdeck delegates will attend the meeting with IBM Management to put their claims for a collective agreement and to insist on a tight timeline for the negotiation process.

However, IBM could attempt to use this meeting as yet another delaying tactic. So we need to stay committed and prepared to take action if necesary.

We will organise the meeting as soon as possible and keep workers on the Flightdeck informed of the outcomes of the meeting.

If you have any questions please call your organiser, Carl Harris on 02 9310 4000 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
