June 10 2010 at 11am is Equal Pay Day.

Equal Pay Supporters from across the country will come together in every capital city to acknowledge the struggle for Equal Pay of the past, and to recognize that we are not there yet.

On that day – we will ask our decision makers to do their bit to address the 17 percent pay gap between the average earnings of men and women in Australia that exists even today.

Our government has the opportunity to make history with us. Community Workers have an Equal Pay test case underway that can make a dent in the 17 percent pay gap. But, we need the government to commit to funding the outcome of the case. It’s time for us to make the government Pay Up – No more lip service to equal pay.

In Sydney we are gathering at Sydney Town Hall.
