Rachel works as a Counsellor in a Rape Crisis Centre
Six years ago I was working in business management, studying a commerce degree and running my own part-time consulting business. I wasn’t feeling challenged or fulfilled, so I changed to study counselling.
I started working as a Support Worker for children with challenging behaviours, then as an Intake Counsellor at a community health centre, next as a Case Manager for a homelessness organisation working with fathers and children, then a Sexual Assault Counsellor, all in the community sector. Now I am working as a Counsellor and Therapeutic Team Leader in a counselling organisation and I have job satisfaction, which is what keeps me in the sector.
I live happily with my partner and my teenage daughter and our three dogs.
