Nadia - child protection worker

Nadia works in family support and is particularly passionate about the needs of families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Nadia-fullpageI migrated to Australia with my husband in 1989. It is in this remarkable country I raised the four of my beautiful children. The eldest completing his  3rd year of teaching, Second eldest in his second year of Law and the remaining two in high school.

I completed my community welfare study at TAFE in 2000 and since then, been gladly working with the community. I have also been elected on behalf of members from NSW FAMS service to be a regional representative, representing the inner-west family support services.

Since completing my study of community welfare, I have commenced the strong passion of mine as a family support worker and soon after been privileged the position of the services team leader. I have worked in the community welfare section for over 9 years. I have focused on families and children who require assistance in many fields.  I work by providing early intervention and prevention programs aiming to support their well-being. As a team leader, I have grown to understand the importance of assisting families and children in order to get their lives back on track. Although I have to admit the strongest passion of all lies deep within the roots of helping families from non- English speaking backgrounds. I strongly believe that as a bi-lingual worker, I must comprehend the fact that there is most definitely several barriers which affect the abilities of individuals coming from non English speaking backgrounds. It quite honestly burdens me knowing that such a factor so minor, can lead to such a large obstacle which these families have to endure.

I am a committed worker who aims to continue my passion for many years to come. For many years to come I hope to raise the profile and value of struggling families and for many years to come I trust that a small change can make a great difference in our community.
