Canon Collective Agreement 2009
In 2009 Canon technicians will be negotiating for a new collective agreement to cover their terms and conditions of employment. This is a chance to fix the problems with the current agreement and get a better deal for technicians.

ASU Delegates and Bargaining Reps continued negotiations with Canon via teleconference on the 27 November 2009.
What did the ASU put to Canon?
The ASU advised Canon that our members' views were very strong and that choice in the event of transmission of business was a fundamental issue. We received Canon's response to our half way proposal to instead of choice, have entitlements protected in the event of a transmission. Canon said no.
We informed Canon that they should either improve the offer or put the agreement out to vote.

Choice in the event of Transmission of Business at Canon is the number one issue on the bargaining table.
What exactly is Transmission of Business?
A Transmission of Business (ToB) occurs when there is a transfer of business from one employer to another. The Fair Work Act describes what is required to determine whether business has transferred and if it has then the ToB rules apply to employees who may be affected by the transfer of business.

The ASU met with Canon management in an attempt to further negotiate a new agreement for Technical Consultants. The meetings occurred on Thursday 30 September and Friday 1 October at North Ryde. Why is it taking so long? There are a number of Technicians claims which Canon have rejected since bargaining commenced.
