Smoke and Mirrors trick on safety as Transit Officers given the chop
Disbanding Railcorp’s team of dedicated Transit Officers will undermine commuter safety on the
train network according to the Rail, Tram and Bus Union.
RTBU NSW Secretary Alex Claassens said the move, announced today by the State Government,
would fail commuters already seriously concerned about their safety on public transport.

Equal Pay Day arrives at last for community workers
Community workers have today been handed long awaited pay rises in a historic decision by Fair Work Australia in the equal pay case.
The case was lodged by the Australian Services Union on March 11 2010 to address the gender-based undervaluation of the community services sector and deliver long overdue pay increases.

ACT community workers will today calculate the pay they have missed out on as a result of the sector’s unequal wages and present the total as an ‘invoice’ to the ACT Government, demanding it take a leadership role and restore the imbalance.
