The negotiations for the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) 2009 EBA have commenced. On Thursday 12 March 2009 the ASU, the RTBU and APESMA met to draft the log of claims. There was a lot of different comment from the various membership and the concern was split between issues with the way in which the current agreement was being administered by ARTC and issues which could be addressed in a renegotiated EBA. This log of claims and a survey has been issued to all members. See below for log of claims.

On Wednesday 1 April the Combined Unions held two meetings with ARTC, one to discuss the administrative issues and one to commence the negotiations by presenting the log of claims to ARTC management. Management took only one position which was that they did not want to move to a fixed rate increase. However, no further discussion was entered into at that stage. Future meetings have been planned for May.

On 7 April two meetings were held with members in Junee and Wagga Wagga. These meetings were well attended and the members made a lot of really constructive comment on the log of claims and their general concerns about the way ARTC operates.
